Smooth Passage Yacht Delivery

About the Captain

After twenty-five years skippering 40- to 80- foot power and sailing vessels, I have thorough knowledge of the Pacific Coast, including most anchorages and nearly every port from California to Alaska. I've also made extended passages as captain along the southern U.S. Atlantic Coast, through the Caribbean Sea, Panama Canal, Central America, and between Hawaii and the mainland. This has given me the ability and confidence to deliver your boat or guide your voyage anywhere in the world where there is navigable water.

Years of experience installing, maintaining and repairing on-board systems mean I can deal with a range of equipment problems en-route. It remains the owner's responsibility to make sure any boat is in sound shape and good mechanical condition before a passage begins. I'm available to help with pre-cruise or delivery upgrades---call to discuss this option. I welcome delivery participation by owners who want to get to know their boat better by practicing navigation in unfamiliar waters. If you have a trip planned in Alaska, British Columbia, Puget Sound, or elsewhere along the West Coast and want to use my local knowledge, I'm available.

Career history, 2000 to 2008: yacht delivery captain, major jobs as follow.

More Feedback: "I had an opportunity to help Richard relocate a friend's boat (a 43' Ocean Alexander) from Seattle to San Francisco in the fall of 2007. I have boated most of my life on the Puget Sound but this was a new experience of boating off-shore for me. I found Richard to be extremely knowledgeable of the waters, navigation, and ports between Seattle and San Francisco. he took good care of the boat, his crew, and was very thorough with his planning of the trip. We arrived in the Bay area on time and the boat was in good shape."
